Christmas wishes...

I hope you all enjoyed World Card Making day! I know I sure did!! I decided to play along with my friend Rae's sketch challenge. Here's her sketch...

I decided since I was working on a card sketch that I should make some Christmas cards to send to Operation Write Home. Here's what I created...

Since I had all my supplies out I decided to make 2 cards. I used papers from the Simple Stories 6x6 25 Days of Christmas paper pad. After adhering my layers to my card base, I cut the scallop using my new Spellbinders Classic Scallop Edgeabilities and layered it with the new Spellbinders Holly Accents border. After embossing the border, I stenciled the holly leaves and added red rhinestones for the berries. I didn't have any red ones so I colored my clear ones with my R39 Copic marker. For my focal image, I used my Circle Nesties to cut out words from my paper pad then hooked them inside the motif from the Holly Accents set. I cut a larger circle then added a Petite Circle Nestabling to it then adhered the motif center with American Crafts dimensional adhesive to the center. To create the sentiment, I stamped Christmas wishes from my Unity Joy & Wonder stamp set then cut it out using the banner from Spellbinders Lacey Pennants. I used my Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap Distress Ink to ink all my edges and stamp my sentiment.

If you aren't familiar with Operation Write Home, they are a non-profit organization that sends handmade cards to our soldiers so they have something nice to send home to their families. If you can't create cards to send, please consider making a donation to help pay for postage to get the donated cards to the units. If you would like to get involved and send in some handmade cards, please visit the GUIDELINES page before you send. I am not affiliated with OWH. I'm just a crafter who is thankful for our armed services and wants to help spread the joy.
