Inchie Key Chain Calendar

Hello and Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was busy, as usual but I did manage to get in a touch of creative time for myself.

The other day at work, I was searching for 2010 printable calendars and I ran across one that printed the months in thumbnail size. I printed a few and brought them home. I'm always looking at a calendar for one reason or another so I thought it would be fun to make myself a key chain calendar. Here's a pic of the front....

To create the pages, I used the Mini Accordian Album (square) from this year's Quickutz Gift Set release. Since the pages are scored in between for the accordian fold, they were easy to pull apart into individual pages. I cut the calendars so that they were smaller than the pages and would leave a border around them. For the cover, I used my retired Quickutz Calendar set to cut the '2010' and my Spellbinders Star Nestabilities for the star. The little alpha stickers are from Making Memories. I chose to use the Mocha Mama ink from the Quick Quotes Powder Puff Chalk Ink set. Here's a peek at the last page...

Again I used my Making Memories Tiny Alpha stickers for the back. The bead chain was found in my stash. Now I can check the calendar anytime, anywhere. hehehe

Intent{ion}. I have already begun choosing some intentions for 2010. I will be working on a mini-book for myself to document my journey very soon....something I have never done!!! Most of my projects are for others, typically my family. But, this year, I will make something for myself. Okay, something else since I just made myself a key chain calendar. hehehe Anywho, Rocky and I were talking this morning and I was explaining my intention theory to him. He likes it. Time management has always been a problem for me. Always. I am HORRIBLE when it comes to schedules. But, my intention for this year is to change that. I will focus more on staying on task, staying, well, focused. That is my first intention for 2010.

Thanks for stopping by today! I hope you have a great week and I'll be back soon!

Intent

I noticed that lots of folks are choosing one word to define their year. So, I decided what the heck?! My word for 2010 is {intention}.

in·tent (n-tnt)
n.
1. Something that is intended; an aim or purpose. See Synonyms at intention.
2. Law The state of one's mind at the time one carries out an action.
3. Meaning; purport.
adj.
1. Firmly fixed; concentrated: an intent gaze.
2. Having the attention applied; engrossed: The students, intent upon their books, did not hear me enter the room.
3. Having the mind and will focused on a specific purpose: was intent on leaving within the hour; are intent upon being recognized.
Idiom:
for/to all intents and purposes
In every practical sense; practically: To all intents and purposes the case is closed.

Often times I {intend} to get things done, to follow through, to stay organized. Like most who set resolutions, I start off strong only to begin slacking by the end of January. So, this year I will not only have {intentions} but I will remain focused and follow through.

Last year I was blessed to be asked to be part of the Scrap-Mart team as their Blog Editor and DT Coordinator. We are beginning our new year with a brand spankin' new blog and one heck of a talented design team. We began the new DT debut on January 1st and will end the introductions tomorrow with a Page Maps sketch and layout from me. Stop by the blog to check out our sketch and say hi! I am excited to see what 2010 brings and thankful to be part of such a wonderful team!

Our new DT is twice the size of our team from last year which means that I have more time to create for fun rather than for assignments. I received my Paper Crafts Connection newsletter via email today and clicked on the link to the Moxie Fab Blog. I know this blog has been around for some time now but I had never visited it. {GASP!} I know, I know. Anyway, I did visit it today and decided to take their new color challenge. My friend, Rae, has joined the Card Positioning Systems (aka CPS) design team and I decided to combine the two.

Here's the CPS Sketch 148:

And the Moxie Fab World color challenge:

And here's my creation:

The sketch itself was instantly inspiring. The colors, however, I wasn't quite convinced. LOL! I can't say that I would have personally thought of this color combo but after completing my project, I like it. I used Stampin Up! cardstock (Whisper White and Rose Red). The blue was from my stash and I'm not sure if it's SU! or not. The orange patterned paper is from Fancy Pants and the flowers are Prima. The stamped image and sentiment are from the Unity Hodge Podge of Happiness kit and they were both stamped using Rose Red ink. I colored the image with my SU! Watercolor Pencils and blended with my colorless blender. Then, the image was cut out using my Oval Nestabilities and mounted on a Labels Three label that was embossed with Cuttlebug's Swiss Dots embossing folder. The brads were from my stash. I think that about covers it. You can find most of the products I used (except the SU! stuff) online at Scrap-Mart.com.

Thanks for stoppin' by! Take a moment and stopy by my friend, Rae's, blog and give her a shout for her new DT position. And, if you have time join in the CPS fun and play along! See you again soon!

Happy New Year!!

What a year 2009 was! It seems like since July it was all just a blur. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a safe and happy new year. The new year is bringing new things into my life.

For starters, Scrap-Mart has a brand spankin' new blog. Howard and I have been working for the past week or so to get the new blog all set up. Howard is the technical guru so he did all the behind the scenes stuff. I simply uploaded some vidoes, set up some links and worked up the blog posts announcing our new dt. We have doubled our dt size from last year which means double the inspiration! We have a super talented group of ladies joining us this year and I hope you'll join us on our new blog.

Also new in my life is this:

Isn't it gorgeous?! I LOVE Dooney & Bourke bags. This one I recently bought on eBay, NWT, and I'm hoping it arrives tomorrow. It is {HUGE}, just the way I like them. My hubby and I don't usually put Christmas presents under the tree for each other. He got his present early...we went to the Kiss concert! Rocky on! So, I decided it was time for me to have a new Dooney...the ONLY thing I buy name brand. I can wear Wal-Mart clothes and Payless shoes but I want a Dooney on my arm. I know, it's silly but it's just one of my quirks. hehehe

I haven't done any scrappin' yet this year but considering it's only the first I figure I'm okay. But, I can share with you my last project of 2009...

My mother and father-in-law don't like for us to buy them Christmas presents so I figured I could make one and get away with giving them a gift. Plus, it would be a gift from the {heart}. I had taken Cody and Shelby to meet Santa and my sister-in-law met us there with Rylee. Thankfully we were able to take pics with our personal cameras so I got in some extra shots. I took the photos and had them printed in wallet size so they would all fit into an 8x10 frame. I used Spellbinder's Labels Eight to create mat for my title, which reads "We Still believe in Santa". That was for my father-in-law as he still signs EVERY present "from: Santa". The font I used was from the Quickutz Santa's Workshop Holiday Gift Set and I mixed in some Making Memories Mini Alpha stickers. They both loved the gift and I felt good being able to give them something that was special to all of us.

Thanks to all of you who hung with me through 2009. I hope to see you all in 2010 as well! Be sure to swing by the new Scrap-Mart blog and check out our new dt. I'll be back soon with some more scrappy goodness!
